EY is calling for nominations for the 29th Annual EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards, recognized as one of the most prestigious business award programs in the country that celebrates game-changing leaders around the world who founded, strengthened, or transformed successful enterprises.

Each year, EY showcases successful entrepreneurs from more than 145 cities in 60 countries. In 2014, more than 25 Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia leaders were selected as EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Award finalists. Past award winners in Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia include: Rob Daley and Henry Thorne of 4moms, Laura Shapira Karet of Giant Eagle Inc., Dean Grose of Comtech Industries, Inc. and Luis von Ahn of Duolingo.

“For almost 30 years, we have had the privilege of getting to know many high impact entrepreneurs through our Entrepreneur Of The Year Program,” said Mike Kacsmar, Americas Director, EY Entrepreneur Of The Year. “The entrepreneurs we have honored lead highly disruptive companies in their industries and create a lion’s share of new job creation in the economy.”

Award winners are selected by a panel of independent regional judges in a number of industry categories including, Distribution and Manufacturing, Energy, Family Business, Financial Services, Construction, Retail and Consumer Products, Services, and Technology. Entrepreneurs may nominate themselves or be nominated by peers or other business leaders.

“EY Entrepreneur Of The Year is not just an awards program, it is an ongoing network of top leaders,” said Kimberlee Gillespie, EY Entrepreneur of The Year Program Co-Director for Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia. “The entrepreneurs we have honored are creating disruptive companies and causing a positive ripple effect in our communities, our capital markets and our economy.”

The program has a firm deadline of March 6, 2015 for nominations, with the Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia awards ceremony scheduled for June 19, 2015 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, PA.

The Entrepreneur Of The Year Program honors entrepreneurs regionally in June. All regional honorees are then invited to the Entrepreneur Of The Year National gala, on November 14, 2015 in Palm Springs, California. The gala is the culminating event of the EY Strategic Growth Forum®, the nation’s most prestigious gathering of high-growth, market-leading companies.

The US Overall National winner will go on to compete for the World Entrepreneur Of The Year title in Monaco the following June.
