The Graphical Web is an annual, global conference featuring new technologies of art and science that utilize open standards for presenting visual information on the web. The conference showcases best practices, new opportunities and future directions in the fast-changing world of web graphics. The event draws a broad range of attendees, from those who design and implement web standards, to artists, journalists, and data scientists, keen to understand the potential of new technologies that enrich storytelling on the web. 

We invite artists of the Greater Pittsburgh Area to submit art in all media. 

To Apply:

  • Upload: up to three works in jpeg format (not to exceed 6MB) to: web-art@graphicalweb.org for consideration.

  • Title image files with your last name and a number to correspond with inventory (ex. Hertel_1, Hertel_2, Hertel_3)

  • For time-based work: provide a link to youtube or vimeo (as well as still frame jpeg versions for each of judging).

  • You may submit up to three images per piece (for three dimensional work)

  • Include an inventory list with your name, and numbered entries: title, medium, date, size and email address for notification. Provide a 150 word bio on your art endeavors.

  • Framed 2D works cannot exceed 24” x 30” and a weight of 10lbs.

  • 3D works weighing more than 40 lbs. will need to be handled by the artist throughout the delivery, installation and de-installation.  Small 3D works weighing less than 10 lbs. will be placed on glass tables

  • Artists are responsible for all shipping costs to and from the exhibition

  • Artists are responsible for any insurance on their art work for shipping and event

  • Accepted artists may be asked to supply high resolution jpeg images for public relation purposes related to the exhibition

The exhibition is free and open to all.

Accepted work will be exhibited at the Fairmont Pittsburgh, in the conference common area. Installation will take place on September 22, with the exhibit on view from September 23 – 25.
