Announcements of newly discovered data breaches occur almost monthly. Although falling prey to a breach can seem unavoidable, there are steps you can take to reduce that likelihood and to show your customers, regulators, and would-be  attackers that you take security seriously. Sometimes, however, even despite your best efforts, you may learn that your company has been the victim of a breach. As in-house counsel, CIO, or CISO, how do you mitigate the impact on your company? Not all data breaches follow the same course, and various considerations factor into an appropriate response. In all instances, however, having a response plan in place is critical. This seminar will highlight steps that you can take to reduce your exposure to a breach at the outset, which also will reduce legal exposure in the event of a breach.

The seminar will also discuss key considerations for an effective breach response such as:

How do we manage the information as we investigate the source and scope of the breach?

When should we contact law enforcement?

When should we provide notice to consumers or business partners?
