When: June 20, 2023
Where: Pittsburgh Technology Council Offices
Please join us on June 20th, as we welcome Rear Admiral Scott Pappano who leads the U.S. Navy’s efforts to field the $132 billion next generation Sea Based Strategic Deterrence Submarine. The Columbia Class Submarine has been described as the U.S. Navy’s largest and most complex submarine ever to be designed. As Program Executive Officer for Strategic Submarines, Admiral Pappano is responsible for ensuring the nation’s industrial base can deliver 12 Columbia Class submarines to replace the aging, yet formattable Ohio Class vessels.
Admiral Pappano will be joined in Pittsburgh by Matthew Sermon who serves as the Executive Director for the program office. Mr. Sermon played a key role in leading the Columbia Class project through the design and construction readiness phases of the deployment project.
From the outset, the Columbia Class was expected to stretch the capacity of our nation’s industrial base, a challenge which has only become more pressing as the nation’s manufacturing communities struggle with workforce and supply chain related challenges.
