TEQHub interviewed Rob Brown, President and Chief Operating Officer of DataStrike, and discussed the company’s focus, services, growth plans and commitment to the Pittsburgh area and technology community.
Q: What is DataStrike and what services do you offer?
A: We’re an MSP (Managed Service Provider) focusing on fractional and full outsourcing support for data infrastructure. We prioritize SMBs (Small-to-mid sized businesses) but have also worked with large enterprises. We typically work with businesses with $8 billion in revenue or less.
Q: How does DataStrike assist organizations with their data infrastructure needs?
A: We help organizations that don't have a full-time data infrastructure resource and fill in on a fractional standpoint. Our fractional and full outsourcing models ensure that businesses, especially those without a dedicated data infrastructure team, have access to the expertise they need to maintain and optimize their data systems. Our model helps to support them in a variety of ways – from managing databases to handling cloud services.
Q: How do you address the needs of SMBs compared to larger enterprises?
A: While we also work with larger enterprises, the needs of SMBs are often more immediate and varied, requiring a flexible approach. Our fractional support model provides SMBs with the flexibility to access high-level expertise without the commitment of a full-time hire. This approach allows SMBs to scale their data infrastructure support according to their needs and budget. In addition, our 100 % onshore model capabilities take away any communication issues that could arise, so SMBs receive stellar support.
Q: How does DataStrike stay ahead in the rapidly evolving tech industry?
A: We have a mature and experienced executive team that has developed and maintained previous businesses that have thrived in the tech space. We stay ahead by continually investing in our team's education and immersing ourselves in the latest industry trends, particularly in fields like AI.
Q: Why did you choose Pittsburgh as the headquarters for DataStrike?
A: Pittsburgh was an obvious headquarter choice with its abundance of resources and strong workforce looking to break into the IT market. Pittsburgh offers a unique combination of resources and opportunities. With its strong educational institutions, a thriving tech community, and a supportive business environment, it has become an ideal place for tech companies to grow and innovate. In addition, Pittsburgh has also become a tech hub for AI over the past few years and continues to invest in this high-growth area.
Q: What are your future plans and commitment to hiring in Pittsburgh?
A: We aim to further solidify our position as a leader in data infrastructure support, both for SMBs and larger enterprises, by continually adapting to the evolving needs of the tech industry. Our plans include expanding our service offerings and continuing to grow our presence in Pittsburgh. We believe in contributing to the local economy and fostering talent within the community. By hiring locally, we also ensure that we have a team that understands the unique challenges and opportunities in the Pittsburgh area.
