Dr. Michael UrickLATROBE, PA – Dr. Michael Urick, C’04, dean of the Alex. G. McKenna School of Business, Economics and Government at Saint Vincent College, is rated among the “20 People to Know in Higher Education” by the Pittsburgh Business Times.

The list of key influencers, leaders and up-and-comers in academia throughout southwestern Pennsylvania was published in the Pittsburgh Business Times’ March 21-27 issue.

A professor of management and operational excellence, Urick joined Saint Vincent’s faculty in 2012 and became dean of the McKenna School in 2022. During his tenure as dean, the McKenna School has initiated eight certificate programs and launched the Aviation Management – Professional Pilot program.

During his nearly decade-long run as director of the Master of Science in Management: Operational Excellence program, it was consistently ranked as a top online non-MBA business graduate degree by U.S. News & World Report. Urick has taught undergraduate and graduate courses related to organizational behavior, human resources, communication, conflict, organizational culture, operations and research methods.

“It’s great to see [students’] light bulbs turn on when they first [understand] a tough concept,” Urick told the Pittsburgh Business Times. “As dean, I love to help students. Whether it’s giving them a pep talk about a tough class, solving a challenge with scheduling, coaching them to find a major that fits best or telling them good news such as when they earn a scholarship, having these interactions with our students is the highlight of my job.”
